Bowl trimmer odstraní všechny přebytečné listy téměř bez zvuku a hlavně bez elektřiny. Čerstvé pupeny jsou rozřezány (3 - 5 cm) a položeny na odnímatelnou mřížku, pod kterou je ocelový nůž s oboustranným ostřím (nebo ocelová struna).
Ten rychle začne vibrovat po otočení o 360 st. a seká listy, které vystupují pod mřížkou. Pro jemnější výsledek může být vodič napojen těsně na mřížku - nebo několik milimetrů pod mřížkou pro hrubší řez. O správnou rotaci nestříhaných květů se starají gumové posouvače.
